Roles and scope of practice of advanced registered nursing

Roles and scope of practice of advanced registered nursing

Advanced registered nursing graduates are entering the profession at dynamic time when roles and scope of practice are shifting based on developments in legislation and policy in response to the evolving needs of the health care system. Professional nursing organizations play an important role in making sure the perspectives of advanced registered nurses are heard, and in supporting nurse specialties in their efforts to expand their scope of practice and their full participation throughout the health care system.

For this assignment, you will conduct research on the current scope of practice for Public Health Nursing and efforts that are being made to expand that scope and the role of the advanced registered nurse in positively influencing the health care system. Write a 1,250-1,500 word paper that includes the following:

A discussion of the scope of your future role as an advanced public health nurse, including any regulatory, certification, or accreditation agencies that define that scope.

A discussion of three professional nursing organizations that you think are most influential in advancing the scope and influence of advanced nursing. Of these organizations, evaluate the one that you would most like to join. How do its goals and mission fit in with your worldview and philosophy of care? How might membership in this organization improve your practice?

A discussion of a controversial or evolving issue that is most likely to affect your scope of practice or role in the next few years. How do you think this issue could influence the profession and other stakeholders and why does it matter to the advanced registered nurse?

You are required to cite 5 to 10 sources to complete this assignment. Sources must be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria and nursing content.

Description

Search for a video on YouTube of an Atheist, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Evolutionist, etc. who is arguing for his/her worldview or against a Christian worldview. Watch the video and write this individual a letter in response to his/her claims against Christianity or for his/her religion (or pseudo-religion). In your letter you will need to address his/her main points and should present to them why Christianity answers the 5 worldview questions (from Module 1: Week 1) better than the worldview they are espousing. If he/she is using one of the informal fallacies we have discussed (from Module 1: Week

1) Point this out to them in a gentle manner.

In your post make sure that you include the link to the YouTube video so your peers and the professor can check to see how well your letter addressed the issues brought up in the video. Before you reply to your peers, make sure you watch the video that the peer used as the genesis of his/her letter. This will help you know if they have adequately responded to the majority of the video’s concerns or critiques. If something has been left out of his/her apologetic letter, please reply addressing how you would have responded to the critique in the video.

Find a Social Science Study

Number of sources:0

Paper instructions:

What is the goal and purpose?

Humans are social beings, so social psychology is personally relevant to everyone. The purpose of this assignment is to apply a social psychological concept to your life. This assignment will challenge you to identify and describe a concept in social psychology that you find particularly interesting and then examine how the concept applies to your life in a meaningful way. This assignment is an opportunity to think deeply about how the course content is personally relevant and expand your sense of self-awareness.

What should I write in the paper?

Select a concept covered in this course that you find interesting. This should be a theoretical concept in social psychology. Describe why you selected this concept.

Identify and describe the concept. Clearly explain how the concept works. Provide a real life example of concept to illustrate the concept.

Clearly describe at least one empirical research study and its findings that support the validity of the concept. Cite the author(s) of the study in APA-style (e.g., “Katz & Braly, 1933”). Identify any limitations that might challenge the validity. The study can come from the numerous studies described in the textbook.

Think deeply about how this concept is personally relevant, and discuss how the concept applies to your life in a meaningful way. Describe the ways in which the concept is exemplified in your life and fits your experiences well. Also consider and describe the ways in which the concept is inconsistent with your experiences.

Explain how understanding and applying the concept to your life could be useful. Describe why knowing the psychology behind your social behavior is important.

Reflect on the assignment so far. Describe what has surprised you in analyzing the concept and how it applies to you. Identify any unexpected insights or patterns.

How should I structure and format the paper?

There should be at least one paragraph for each of the prompts above; as such, write at least six paragraphs. Each paragraph should have about five to seven sentences.

The format is one-inch margins, 12-point/Times New Roman black font, left-aligned, and single-spaced. The minimum length is 750 words; the maximum is 1000 words. List the reference(s) on a separate page; the word count does not include references.

DO NOT USE DIRECT QUOTES! Paraphrase in your own words and cite the source.

Citations and references should be APA-style. Don’t include the MLA-style opening in the paper (i.e., listing your/my name, course name, and date).

Revise the paper until the writing is clear, coherent, concise, compelling, and correct. Write your paper using complete sentences that are correct grammatically, spelled correctly, and without typos. Paragraphs should be coherently organized with transition sentences. Be detailed but succinct. Use vivid and interesting prose. Most importantly, be clear. Use resources you have already paid for at the writing center.

Creatively title the paper and place it at the top center-aligned and bolded.

Save the paper as a PDF file and submit it to Blackboard before the deadline.

Any advice on writing the paper?

Start early! The earlier, the better. Procrastination has not only been empirically shown to produce lower quality work, it has also been well documented that it causes much more stress and anxiety than starting earlier. Importantly, procrastination causes students to learn less than they would have otherwise.

Write in the paper in manageable chunks with even pacing. Try out this process:

Start with brainstorming ideas and make clear notes to reflect on later. It is easy to forget about our earlier thoughts.

Once you have committed to a topic, draft an outline with each of the main points listed out in brief phrases; update points and rearrange order.

Write the rough draft. With this draft, do not worry about making it look pretty: just write! Getting the initial words on the document goes a long way.

Lastly, edit, edit, edit. The majority of your writing time needs to be spent on revising and rewriting. Writing is rewriting! Don’t submit an unrevised draft.

Have fun with it! There is no reason the assignment should be boring. Use this as an opportunity to deepen your self-awareness and make the stuff you are learning about personally relevant. Don’t think about this as just another hoop to jump through. Rather, try to find meaning in the exercise and think about how it can help you grow as a student and as a person!

CONTROVERSY IN MINISTRY: MORAL FAILURE ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

OVERVIEW

A pastor is viewed as a theologian, counselor, administrator, and researcher of the Scriptures. As a consequence, church members will make inquiry from him about many different kinds of issues, including some that are extremely controversial within the life of a church (he as a minister has to become a referee). Thus, it is important that one prepare himself for every situation so that the under-shepherd will be able to teach God’s people (2 Timothy 4:2). Most likely this is another reason why you are in this course. Thus, this paper has been designed so that you can learn to administrate on issues involving church life. Usually, in ministry, the minister is faced with difficult issues, and is only given a short period of time to respond. Therefore, this exercise has been created to teach you how to quickly define and defend your stance.

The topic of this paper will be: “A paid staff member in your church has been found guilty of a moral failure. Some say, “Get rid of him’ while others say, ‘Christ forgave; why shouldn’t we do the same?””

INSTRUCTIONS

This paper should be written so that it defines/explains your position and defends your view on the assigned topic. It should be between 1-2 pages in length, excluding the title page and bibliography. The content of this paper should begin with an introduction consisting of a single paragraph explaining why the topic is controversial and stating your position clearly. The remainder of the paper should flesh out your position from a biblical perspective utilizing key passages on the topic and end with a conclusion providing suggestions for further study. Your paper should include the Bible and at least 1 scholarly resource. This paper should follow current Turabian guidelines and be without any grammatical or spelling errors.

Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.

Summary:

To prepare for your research paper, you will submit an annotated bibliography that contains at least four scholarly research sources.

These sources should come ONLY from the GMC library databases; going beyond GMC Library should only be done when there are no valid sources for your topic there, and even then, sources should be limited to .edu or .org sources- avoid anonymous.com sources at all costs (Wikipedia, Sparknotes, LitCharts, etc). Contact me if you’re unsure about a source’s validity.

For each source, you will first provide an MLA-formatted works cited entry for that source. Remember, the lit databases at GMC Library will do those entries for you.

Then, underneath each individual source, you will provide a paragraph-length annotation. An annotation is a brief summary of the source’s main ideas or points, and may also include a sentence or two about how/why you think this source is relevant to your idea or helpful for your paper.

Sources

You must provide at least four source entries.

Each research source should be a critical argument/point-of-view on the reading you’ve chosen for your research paper. Sources that only provide biographical information or plot summary are unacceptable. Sources should be scholarly and relevant to your topic.

Annotations

The annotation for each source entry should be a paragraph in length (around 100-150 words).

You must include a brief summary of the source. This summary should include the author’s thesis.

You must provide an explanation how this source is relevant to your planned research paper topic.

For more information on how to write an annotated bibliography, you should view the Purdue OWL’s website here: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/general_writing/common_writing_assignments/annotated_bibliographies/annotated_bibliographies.html

Module 7: Assignment – Project 2 Research

Overview and Purpose

In this research assignment, you will build on your argument plan to identify new secondary sources to support your argument. Primary research is optional in Project 2. This assignment will help you gain experience being open to diverse perspectives and ideas, understand the difference between primary and secondary sources and how to evaluate each, and learn to negotiate and integrate different ideas.

Prior to beginning, be sure to review the Project 2 assignment description, all of the learning materials for this assignment, as well as your previous feedback.

Instructions

Complete the requirements in each step in a Word document.

Step 1: Secondary Research Exploration

Consider your research needs for the various sections of your argument. You will need to find sources to support and/or explain the different parts of your proposal:

your proposed solution and justification

alternative solutions (previously suggested or tried) and their drawbacks

possible counterarguments/objections and your rebuttal

Conduct some initial secondary research through ASU Library or reliable web sources, looking for new, relevant secondary sources. You might explore:

Scholarly studies and peer-reviewed journal articles

Local news sources that pertain to your local, professional, or academic community

Official documents (e.g., government document from a city, county, state or federal; financial document from a corporation; corporate memo or university press release)

Find at least five new (not previously used in Project 1), relevant, and credible sources from the ASU Library or the web.

Step 2: Secondary Research Annotation

For each secondary source you identified in Step 2:

Cite the source using APA formatting.

Directly under the source, write a paragraph that:

Summarizes the main points of the source.

Evaluates the credibility of the source.

Explains the relevance and applicability of the source for your project. Why is the source important to use? How is it relevant to your argument? How might you use it in your project? In which specific section of your argument might you use it for support?

Step 3: Primary Research (Optional)

First, decide how you are going to approach the primary research required for Project 2.

Indicate who the decision-maker or decision-making body in the community is to implement your proposed solution.

Indicate whether you will interview or survey them.

Draft at least 5 questions you will ask stakeholders, indicating whether they will be for an interview or a survey, in order to develop a more thorough view of the solution.

Requirements

5 secondary references in APA format with paragraph-long annotations

5 questions for the decision-maker(s) for either an interview or survey (optional)

Either PDF or Microsoft Word-compatible format
