In many ways the French Revolution was the first world-wide war. It involved most of the European countries as well as their colonies. However, traditionally this war has been told from the perspective of just the Europeans involved. Read the textbook and notes on the French revolution.
For this assignment, imagine that you are a person living in Haiti, Brazil or Egypt (select one) during the French Revolution, and write a 200-300 word narrative of how the French Revolution is impacting your life. You can write this as if it was a journal entry in your diary or as if it was a letter to a friend/family member outside of the area. As you write this remember to consider who your imaginary self is (for example the experience of a slave in Haiti will be very different than those of a slave owner), and if there is actual fighting in your area (refer to the readings to determine whether any battles were fought).
