Research methods: should use both qualitative and quantitative and show how and why to use triangulation
Sample size :
I can use threedifferent categories for the staff (Academic,Technoical,Administrative)
I Can use video chat applications like skypee , Rounds … etc. if the interview method used and Survey through online applications and websites links will be sent by email.
Data analysis: will use applications and online softwares available for qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Project plan: start date: the module teaching started from October2012 , the proposal submission date was18/1/2013 ,the resubmission date will be 24/3/2013, we suppose to start working on a dissertation by May and the End date: 16 August 2013.
Proposal Outline
The research proposal will contain the following sections:
- Aim, objectives and brief rationale
- Literature review
- Methodology
- Research limitations and ethical considerations
- Project plan
- Referencing
Proposal Structure: (Important to cover all the elements mentioned below for each section):
Aim and objectives:
- Be as precise and concise as possible
- Only one aim needs to be identified
- There is no rule as to how many objectives are needed but usually between 3-5
Brief Rationale:Justification for the research
- A general summary of what you will do
- A brief outline of the organisation/incident you will be investigating
- A brief discussion of the key theoretical aspects you will look at
- An explanation as to why this research is useful
Literature Review(1000 words (approx) ): This section is not a full-blown literature review
- An outline of the key concepts, theories and models that you will adopt
- A critical understanding of how they fit into your research agenda
- We are not looking for hundreds of articles in this section – enough to make your supervisor understand
Methodology: The rest of this module will be concerned with methodology questions
- g. What is your general philosophy and strategy?
- g. What research methods are you going to use?
- Quantitative (e.g., surveys)
- Qualitative (e.g., interviews, focus groups,Observations,Case studies)
- Use appropriate methods and explain why you’re using them
- Make sure you answer these questions
- Where will you get your data from?
- Who do you need to contact?
- Sample (including simple random, stratified random, opportunity, snowball or purposive),samplingtechnigues.
- Data Analysis :How will you analyse your data?
- Statistical tests?
- Content analysis?
- What are the drawbacks to your methods?
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
- What could be improved upon?
- It is important to show ,it answer your aims and objectives?, it is achievable?areader should be able to understand your reasoning? Show that you know what type of research you are conducting?
Project plan and Resources:
- Use a GANTT chart(Timescale )
- Break down specific tasks
- Assign group roles wherever possible
- Resources (E.g. Human,physical,finance,others)
