Pretend you’re a townsperson in Milford at the time of the story. You are gossiping with your friends (the people in this class) about Reverend Hooper’s sudden donning of the black veil. Provide an explanation for why Reverend Hooper was wearing the black veil, and explain why you think that way. In other words, what does the black veil symbolize to you?
