Second-hand Smoke

Second-hand Smoke

Exposure to second-hand smoke increases the risk of adverse health effects. Second-hand smoke has been classified by the EPA as a known carcinogen (cancer causing agent). At least 9 states including CA, CT, DE, ME, MA, NY, RI, VT and WA prohibit smoking in almost all workplaces, including restaurants and bars. Many communities are following this trend as well. Read the following facts from the American Lung Association regarding second-hand smoke (Source: http://www.lung.org/stop-smoking/about-smoking/health-effects/secondhand-smoke.html). Research the fact listed below. Include at least one additional web reference, NOT American Lung Association.

**Second-hand smoke causes approximately 3,000 lung cancer deaths and 35,000-62,000 heart disease deaths in adult non-smokers in the United States each year. (LUNG CANCER).
