RF Circuit Design
Lab 1: Vector Network Analyzer
Tutorial
In this tutorial, students will learn the use of VNA(Vector Network Analyzer) to characterize a high-frequency component. VNA provides a frequencyswept signal to a two-port network and measures of S-parameters. Based on the 50 Ω port impedance, The ratios of the re ected signal to the incident signal and the transmitted signal to the incident signal are accurately measured through VNA. This tutorial covers the fundamental of VNA, the calibration of the VNA and the characterization of the RF components.
Report
Please prepare one group report according to the following descriptions. All the gures must be clearly observable with corresponding captions.
- File name: EELE4134_ Name of group member_2019.
- Title page – Lab1 – VNA Tutorial and your group number, name of the group member, signature from each group member and student ID.
- Contribution sheet: In order to guarantee a fully transparent and fair process for such a large class, each team lab report MUST include a page stating the exact contribution of each team member as a percentage of the entire workload, and with speci c contribution of each team member to the team e ort. This page will also carry the signatures of the team members (in original, not scanned copies) certifying that the individual contributions have been properly recorded. Lab instructor will send you a template for this page before Lab1 start date. You must use this template in your lab reports, no other forms are acceptable. The lab report will be graded with zero if this page is missing. Although group marks will be given, reasonable workload should be assigned to each member of your group. Lab instructor reserve the right to adjust the marks to re ect individual contributions, if and as necessary.
- Content:
- Screen shot of Open/Short/50 Ω load-circuit calibration.
- Screen shot of Open/Short/ 50 Ω-circuit calibration with Coaxial cable. Think about why and explain it in the report.
- Log format of S-Parameters. You should use markers to label pass-band, -3 dB and stop band.
- Fill in the following table:
