Plot Development Notes
Exposition- the basic situation exposes the characters, setting, and initial conflict. Notes
Rising Action- builds up to the climax using suspense. Notes
Climax- is the highest point of emotion or turning point in the story. Notes
Falling Action- downtime in the plot events start to calm down and come to an end. Notes
Resolution- the end and conflicts are solved. Notes
Characters and conflict is what moves you through the plot. Narratives are written in chronological order.
Grammar:
Subject and Verb Agreement pg. 214
-s, es
Sub. And Verb have to agree in number. Add “s to verb if there is one subject. No “s if there is more than one subject. Pg. 215-216
Singular “ He kicks the ball.
Plural- They kick the ball.
Sentence Types- 184-185, 191-193
Simple- contains a subject and verb. It only has an Independent Clause.
Compound- contains two independent clauses joined by a coordinating conjunction and a comma. Pg. 185 has coordinating conjunctions memorize FANBOYS
Complex- has one independent clause and one or more subordinate/dependent clause. Pg. 185 has subordinating conjunctions memorize a few.
Compound-Complex- two independent clauses joined by a comma and coordinating conjunction and at least one subordinate clause. Pg. 193
