Letter of Recommendation

Letter of Recommendation

To whom it may concern,

It is my pleasure to recommend my former colleague Elizabeth A, for acceptance into your graduate program for the upcoming academic year. As her colleague in the music department at the high school,  I had the privilege of working with Elizabeth for the last four years and had the pleasure of getting to know her on both professional and personal levels. She is an excellent educator who cares deeply about her students and also a dedicated colleague who shows great support for the music department and the entire school community.

One of Elizabeth’s strengths as an educator is the way she builds loving relationship with her students through classes and individual lessons.  She is such a passionate musician and a warm individual who is inclusive and tries hard to get to know every single student in her class. I have heard that graduating students saying positive comments such as “I loved my choir class because it was like a family to me” or “I am so glad I took choir this year for the first time.” Her open personality encouraged many students who never had an experience in choir to try it and pushed everyone, including a beginner to an advanced singer, to do their best and reach their full potentials.  The trust between her and her students and technical improvement were clearly shown through performances and school musicals. I remember that I had a goosebumps when I saw her students perform at the show choir invitational last year because not only students’ performance was outstanding, but also the performance was filled with their strong love, passion, and confidence for singing.   I often saw her taking extra time to offer an additional lesson or meet with students and/or families to discuss personal struggles or concerns.  She absolutely does her best to create the environment where students can learn and grow as a musician and also as a person.

Her strong communication skill was also supporting her vocal program.  Whether she is informing about upcoming concerts or addressing student’s personal issues, I was impressed by how her communication was so clear and professional.  When she noticed a student struggling a busy schedule with athletic activities, she immediately sat down with her to talk about how to handle it. Her effort helped many busy high schoolers and their families to keep everything organized and supported students to stay in choir.

I believe everyone in the building knew Elizabeth as a supportive colleague who is so easy to work with.  Whenever my class had a concert or off campus event, she was always there without even asked and did everything to help me. She was trying to get to know my program and students so that we could collaborate together. I felt so fortunate to have a co-worker I was able to share both ups and downs and the joy and challenges of teaching music courses, and  also keep inspiring each other to be a better educator.

I was grateful for having Elizabeth as a colleague in the same department past 4 years.  She brought so much joy, bottomless support and kindness to everyone who worked with her in the building.  I am very excited that she is eager to learn more in the graduate program and prepared to take her well-rounded musical skills to the next level. I am therefore very pleased to be able to recommend Elizabeth. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
