Is the UN Security Council in need of serious and substantial reform? Identify and evaluate how specific reforms may provide new means to achieve greater levels of international peace and security while recognizing barriers to implementation.
In answering the question students should look to provide:
• Sound indications of theoretical awareness (realism, liberalism, constructivism)
• Solid empirical-based evidence (through selected case-study material)
• An appreciation of ideas (key ideational perspectives) and their origins (with respect to certain thinkers, points in history)
• An understanding of events that have most affected and shaped the League of Nations and the United Nations
• If valid, some comparative observations of the two organisations in question
