‘Frailty, thy name is woman’ (Act 1, Scene 2, line 146)

‘Frailty, thy name is woman’ (Act 1, Scene 2, line 146)
Using this quotation as a guide, critically compare the female characters in Hamlet with those in Oedipus the King and Antigone in terms of power, madness, love and death. (Pay special attention to Ophelia and Antigone.)

You are being asked to ‘critically compare’ the texts. This means that now, in your essay, you must argue for a position or viewpoint, rather than just demonstrate comparative points between the texts. However, it cannot be just the expression of an opinion but must be a justified judgement which follows from your argument. And it has to be backed up by evidence; which means that you have to show, a close, accurate reading of the texts.
