Discipline Committee
Attend one of the following meetings (campus discipline committee, campus or district emergency management committee, or student discipline conference) and focus on the following items. Take notes on what happens in the meeting to answer page one of the assignment:
Who was in attendance at the meeting? (Teacher, Parent, Student, etc)
How were the participants selected if a campus committee? If a discipline conference, what was the infraction? (Do not use student names or identifiers)
What agenda items were covered during the meeting?
How was information communicated and input solicited? (If a discipline conference, what discussion took place with the student to investigate the incident?)
Results of the meeting (If a discipline conference, what action was taken? How was the parent notified?)
Discuss campus issues that were addressed by the committee to answer page two of the assignment. If a discipline conference, what discipline issues do you see impacting the campus, if any.
Write a two paper describing the following:
Page One: Discuss which items occurred in the meeting and write a paragraph about what you saw working and what was not working in the meeting or conference?
Page Two: If you were the principal of this school, how would you work collaboratively with committees to strengthen the safety and discipline of the campus? What preparation, communication, or actions from the meeting or conference would you replicate? Briefly explain why. I work in an elementary school in Spring ISD.
