Alternate sentencing programs
Research and write about four to six alternative sentencing programs that are successful throughout the country or the world.Research programs for the mentally ill, the homeless, drug abusers, juveniles or domestic violence offenders. You can focus on one area (such as programs for the mentally ill) or research many different programs.Research and summarize literature about how the different programs that are used in lieu of jail or prison. At a minimum,
(1) you must explain how the alternative sentencing program is structured for the judge to consider when sentencing an individual.
(2) You must explain how an individual successfully completes the program or the consequences that are imposed if the individual fails to complete the alternative program.
(3) You must demonstrate knowledge of the pros and cons of the alternative sentencing programs.
