  1. The Civil Rights Movement in the United States was a decades-long struggle with the goal of enforcing constitutional and legal rights for African Americans that other Americans already enjoyed. Technology is playing a central role in what may be a resurgence of the Civil Rights Movement in protests over grand jury decisions not to indict White police officers in the death of unarmed African Americans in Ferguson, MO. and Staten Island, NY. As advances in technology give rise to new fields and accelerate existing ones, the lack of representation within STEM professions is resulting in a shortage of qualified Americans to fill these new roles. As an uprising continues to boil over police brutality, racial discrimination, and condoned police shootings, technology may became the bridge between the Civil Rights Movement and today’s youth-led agitation. The power and potential of technology is extraordinary, and we need to continue to use it as a weapon in our arsenal, but we also need to remember the other side of the coin regarding strategy. If technology did not exist during these times then we would not be able to bring a lot of cases and unethical acts to justice.

  1. The 20th century brought about quite a few events. These events include; World War 2, The Cold War, etc. I will be elaborating more on the “Cold War”. This was quite an interesting event to me, because, I found it so intriguing to know that after ‘World War 11’, people were still not tired. Going through World War 11 should have been enough for them and have them focus on rebuilding. Instead, they were still focused on having multiple differences that triggers off an added problem. Let’s take a look at the blockade towards the Berlins from the Soviet Union. This prevented the Berlins from getting food, and other types of things from going in. The intervention of an Airlift by the US that would be used to transport the necessities (food, etc.) to Berlin, caused the blockade to be lifted by the Soviets. Another positive aspect of airlift, is that it made the use have some type of good name. The only possible negative impact of this intervention was probably creating enemies for the US due to their good deed. In fact if this technology (airlift) was not created, there would be a drought in Berlin and their economy would also be in jeopardy.

  1. If the United States hadn’t used nuclear weapons against Japan, do you think they would have been used at all?
