This essay will aim to critically discuss leadership and collaborative interprofessional practice, relating to a nursing scenario. The scenario took place in an adult accident and emergency department whereby the nursing and medical team participated in Sickle cell Anaemia care (see Appendix).

The essay must cover

• The concept of leadership and management will be exploring in relation to the scenario.
• Introduce the idea of leadership in healthcare today.
• Analyse effective leadership, theories of leadership and leadership styles.
• Refer the term ‘leader to more commonly than manager, assuming that anyone can be a leader not necessary a manager, depending on their position and the situation.
• Evaluate the role of ‘self’ in relation leadership, discuss the roles of the interprofessional team.
• Highlight quality and safety in leadership and collaborative practice
• The essay will then critically review the benefits and challenges (e.g. communication, conflict between nurses or with other professional) of interprofessional collaborative practice and the different approaches to this.
• Use more than one problem solving technique in this essay
• Identify which leadership theory It is applying in this essay
• Issue in leadership management, example: mistakes from the leader; staff absence, sickness, safety of staff and how to solve problems.
• The essay will also highlight the main points of the essay.
