Assignment 3: Leading Participative Change WEIGHTING: 25% Due Date: 5th November Word limit: 1200 words In this assignment, you are expected to produce a short essay which takes the specific detail of an intentional change in an organisation using either Action Research or Appreciative Inquiry (as in Assignment 2) and investigates the possible ways of leading that change. You will also construct an academic argument regarding the nature of the change you have focused on and what you think the leader’s role is within this context. You will include relevant literature on the approach to change, and leadership: • Introduce your essay (100 words) • Discuss the particular unique aspects of either Action Research or Appreciative Inquiry (as in Assignment 2) and the particular principles which contribute to the nature of the participative process (350 words) • Your view about how leadership lends itself to the change process. (450 words) • Conclude your paper summarising the leadership you identify is appropriate for the changes you propose and why (300 words) It is possible that you might take each of the specific aspects of detail of the AR or AI process in Assignment 2 and expand on the way each process may be led.
