Brief:_x000D_
You are required to design an interactive mobile application for an educational game based on the specification provided. The purpose of this exercise is for you to demonstrate your ability to design a usable, interactive paper-based prototype, which can be used as part of a usability study._x000D_
_x000D_
1. Specify it:_x000D_
Use a user-centred design methodology. Include a user analysis, task analysis, functional analysis, environmental analysis._x000D_
_x000D_
2. Design it:_x000D_
The application is intended to be well structured and presented, and you are to produce the paper-based prototype._x000D_
_x000D_
You are to justify each design decision with reference to both the research, as well as the design guidelines. The aim of the exercise is to say WHY the design feature works, and not just WHAT the design feature is. Include layout, images, colour, and navigation._x000D_
_x000D_
3. Test it: Usability study_x000D_
Get feedback on your design. Establish a set of heuristics and evaluate the design with colleagues. Get them to try out the prototype and log the results._x000D_
_x000D_
4. Evaluate._x000D_
5. Include a reference list. Ensure you are referencing BOOKS as well as the web…_x000D_
SPECIFICATION_x000D_
This application should allow the user to make music. It should provide an accessible way to demonstrate instrumentation, rhythm, melody and harmony. The interface should be fun and easy to use. Users should be able to create a tune in seconds. The app is aimed at children and enables them to use patterns or colour to compose a tune. Users will be able to express their creativity, learn the fundamentals of music composition and increase their music appreciation._x000D_

BUILDING A SONG…_x000D_
1. Create a melody using a sketch pad_x000D_
• Create a simple tune/melody. Simply tap and drag to create, and edit notes OR_x000D_
• Connect visual patterns with sounds using a colourful, intuitive interface_x000D_
_x000D_
2. Add an orchestra_x000D_
• Build an ensemble from various instruments without complicated menus of settings_x000D_
_x000D_
3. Play back the composition_x000D_
• Hear your song_x000D_
The system should take into account music theory principles to make sure the music sounds harmonious._x000D_
_x000D_
WITHIN AN ENVIRONMENT_x000D_
1. There should be 8 different sketch pads. Each sketchpad has a character. Each has its own unique sound._x000D_
2. Within each sketchpad the user should be able to create a tune, add instruments and play back the song._x000D_
_x000D_
AND ADDING THE INSTRUMENTS_x000D_
1. All the instruments must be able to be played individually_x000D_
