Ethical Framework Implementation

For this assignment, you will evaluate how IT policies and processes can support an organization\’s ethical practices. To do this, identify the ethical framework from the Wright (2011) article, and describe how you would implement it within Aetna, using the implementation strategies discussed in the Desai & von der Embse (2008) article.

To complete this assignment, address the following aspects in your paper:

Describe the current culture in two different functional units in your chosen organization. If your organization is global, be sure to consider intercultural factors as well as organizational culture.

Apply Wright\’s ethical framework to each functional unit, accommodating for the differences in business culture and business process requirements. Include a rationale for your choices and explanations.

Predict potential differing viewpoints and reactions from implementing the ethical framework for members of the two functional units in an organization.

Describe the implementation strategy for each functional unit, considering the differing cultural needs.

Your paper should be double-spaced, approximately 1000 words, and include three academic resources. (You may use the Wright article and the Desaid and von der Embse article as two of your sources.) Be sure to use appropriate APA format in your paper, including in-text citations and a reference list for resources referenced in your paper.

Mechanisms to Implement IT Governance

Mechanisms to Implement IT Governance

INTRODUCTION

After IT governance allocates decision rights and accountability to ensure IT policy and processes are aligned with the corporate strategies, a set of procedures and mechanisms are needed to cascade strategic goals down into the organization and to facilitate the implementation of these goals. These mechanisms and procedures for the implementation of IT governance include decision making structures, alignment processes, and communication approaches.

The title of my project is Safe Haven for Pregnant Homeless Youth

For this Discussion, analyze your search results for state, federal, and foundation grants, and select the RFPs that best match your project.

Post a link (URL) for each of the three RFPs that best align with your project. Include a summary that provides a rationale for each of your choices. The rationale should address the alignment of the RFP to your project idea as well as the alignment of the funder itself. Why is this a good match?

Paper instructions:

EXPERIMENT: WAVE SPEEDS

Try this investigation of the effect of the medium on wave speeds.

OBJECTIVES

Make quantitative observations and measurements at the appropriate level of precision.

Analyze, evaluate and predict trends from data.

Communicate conclusions for peer review.

These supplies are needed:

Slinky®

stopwatch or sweep second hand

meter stick

Follow these directions and answer the question.

On the floor, or a large flat surface, fix one end of the Slinky® and extend it approximately 5 meters (Note: this is for an average full size Slinky® ).

Generate a pulse by making a quick wave with the free end of the Slinky®. You will use the stopwatch to time how long it takes the wave to travel to the far end and back. Repeat this several times to obtain an average.

Extend the Slinky® by about 1 additional meter (you still want to be able to make a wave).

Repeat Step 2.

Extend the Slinky® by about 1 more additional meter (you still want to be able to make a wave).

Repeat Step 2.

Calculate the velocities, using d/t. Make sure you accurately measure exactly how far you stretched your slinky for each wave.

Complete the lab and answer the following questions.

Why does stretching the slinky change the density of the medium carrying the pulse?

How did the different stretches (densities) affect the velocity of the pulse?

Examples of technology used in modern public health research include GIS (geographic information system), social media, and health informatics.

  • How do you plan to incorporate technology into your research proposal? Are you or could you be using an innovative technology?
  • What are merits and shortcomings to consider when incorporating technology into your research?

Ethical Dilemmas in Sampling

Ethical Dilemmas in Sampling

Review

Complete the assigned readings and review the following resource to prepare for this discussion.

Respond

There have been many instances of unethical practices in health-related research such as the infamous Tuskegee syphilis study. Sampling strategy, which includes sample selection, recruitment approach, and incentives offered, is an aspect of research planning that can be fraught with ethical dilemmas. Also, implementing health promotion programs on topics such as family planning or pregnancy prevention can be sensitive in religious settings.

  • What ethical dilemmas might you, as a researcher, anticipate given your selected research topic?
  • How do these ethical dilemmas manifest in faith-based settings?

Research-policy gap – There is often a disconnect between those who conduct research and those who are positioned to implement the research findings.

Review

Complete the assigned readings and review the following resource to prepare for this discussion.

Respond

There is often a disconnect between those who conduct research and those who are positioned to implement the research findings. The underlying problem is that “the production and dissemination of evidence are organized institutionally with highly centralized…funding, storing, indexing, synthesizing, and disseminating of science, whereas the application of that science is highly decentralized” (Green, Ottoson, Garcia, and Hiatt, 2009, p.154). Another factor adding to this dissonance is that scientists are trained to communicate with other scientists, not necessarily with the public, or with policymakers (p.155).

Thinking about this disconnect, reflect on the following:

  • What are some recommendations for closing the distance between science and policy?
  • How can implementation science contribute to bridging the gap?

Public health professionals must show competence in applying for grants that fund potential research. – Research Proposal Prospectus

Public health professionals must show competence in applying for grants that fund potential research. – Research Proposal Prospectus Overview

Assignment Overview

Public health professionals must show competence in applying for grants that fund potential research. To that end, they must demonstrate knowledge of research design and feasibility, as well as the ability to justify the appropriate type of data collection and analysis approach, develop implementation plans and processes for securely handling data, as well as other procedures.

Researchers in public health ought to consider how their research findings will be translated into practice or policy, and in turn, improve population health.

You will examine the literature and present a robust review, which then informs a research proposal focused upon public health, community health, or health services related topic. You will use a collaborative process that culminates in your final research proposal.
