Select a local business (Or, a national business with a major IT presence in the area). Research it’s history. Decide what its most pressing problems have been where it either solved it creatively by implementing a DSS or where it could have solved it more effectively by implementing a DSS. Consider what problems it has right now, and whether or not there are any categories (You do not need to recommend a specific product, but a category) of DSS that you feel would be most effective for solving that problem. It’s possible that the answer to this last question is ‘No’, but you’ll need some justification for that answer. Finally, consider how data and information flow through the company, and model a quick analysis in whatever standardized format you prefer (whether it’s UML, modeled as a Data Warehouse, or if you can represent it as a Gantt chart, etc). This last point is purposefully open-ended, since being more specific may make it harder to apply to difference companies. Do your best to associate it with the company’s decision systems integration, because that’s the point, but don’t force it if it won’t work right.

Your submission should be about 6-7 pages. Be sure that you’ve a) given a rundown on the company, b) Described problems in the past and their associated DSS solutions, c) its problems in the future and their associated DSS solutionss, and d) included and explained your model of the company.

They are complex to manage, costly, and often result in significant disability for the patients. The science of chronic illness care is swiftly advancing, and there is collective pressure to improve the efficiency and quality of care for these disorders. Identifying and understanding the health of a population being served and the services that need to be provided is an essential part for the informatics professional. This assignment is designed to heighten your awareness of the rapid evolution in health informatics tools that can help improve chronic illness care.
Assignment Instructions
As part of the integration of Valley City Regional Hospital to Vila Health, the C-Suite wants to ensure that the preventive services being provided align with the needs of the population. Of major concern are the services being provided to the elderly population as the organization is in a rural setting with limited specialties within the area. As part of the informatics team, you are charged with assessing and analyzing demographic data for the serviced area in order to identify potential areas that can be improved and potentially identify new services. The required elements for this assignment are:
• Interview appropriate members of the health care team to gather initial information on the needs of the population and the services provided within Valley City Regional Hospital.
• Request from Vila Health data-analytics team a population health report specific to population served for Valley City Regional Hospital.
• Provide a comprehensive analysis of the needs of the population.
• Select one condition that requires an intervention and provide your rationale for its selection.
• Provide potential technology solutions that can address the limitation in specialty services for the targeted population, as well as improve the quality of care provided to diabetic patients.

This is a profile essay based on an interview I did. I have provided the transcript of my subject’s responses, as well as responses from a close friend of the subject. The essay should not be in chronological order. It should be 50% narration and 50% anecdotes/quotes. The big ideas, in my mind, include his drinking problem and how he overcame that, and his character trait – being helpful. That trait should be manifested by his work, coaching hockey/skating. To add a personal touch to it, you should know that he taught me skating when I was very young (in transcript), and he gave me my first hockey stick. Weak verbs such as the forms of “to be” should always be avoided.

Research proposal on Affirmative Action

1. A “project narrative” that briefly explains your idea for the essay. Identify the topic you have selected from the textbook and articulate why you find it intellectually interesting and/or personally significant. Name which “moral theory” reading you hope to use to write about this topic, and why this choice makes sense to you. Write this narrative as a proper paragraph, with a topic sentence, clear internal development, and sentence transitions. 200-250 words.

4. An annotated bibliography with two entries: one for a textbook reading on your topic from (Exploring Ethics, an Introductory Anthology 3rd or 4th edition) and one for a potential outside source (either a scholarly book from the LASC library, or an article found in the Opposing Viewpoints in Context database). Each bibliography entry should include two components: a) the citation for the source, in MLA format (i.e., the entry that would go on your Works Cited page for this source); and b) a brief summary of the source, identifying its key points and/or claims and reflecting on how you might use it to support your thesis. (See Little Seagull Handbook pgs. 74–78 for tips on writing an evaluative annotated bibliography.) 100-150 words (not counting the citation text).

Instructions:

1. As early as possible into the semester, choose a book from the list I provided you. (You will be required to choose a book by the end of week 3 as per the discussion assignment). Start reading it ASAP. Don’t procrastinate!

2. Think about what social issues are brought to bear in your novel. Does your book provide any insights into issues of race/ethnicity, gender/sexuality, class/social status, religion, war, social injustice, or any other important topic? Of course it does, because I chose the books with these questions in mind. Choose one of these issues or another you have in mind and engage with it on a scholarly level by formulating an argument with a strong thesis.

Example of a good thesis statement: “In this essay, I argue that by reading Jean Rhys’s ‘Wide Sargasso Sea’ through an ecofeminist lens, one can see the connection between the domination of nature and the domination of women by men.”

3. Engaging on a scholarly level means that you should conduct outside research (Wikipedia is not considered a scholarly source, so please don’t use for this paper except to conduct the preliminary research needed to choose your book) to see what other academics have to say about both your chosen book/author and your issue. You will be required to use at least four (4) outside sources other than your book.

4. I expect you to use quotations both from your book and your sources to back up your argument. Never leave a quote hanging without first setting it up and then commenting on it.

5. I am not interested in reading a summary of your book. I have read them, written about them, and know the stories. The only time you may summarize in this paper is if you’re paraphrasing a section that is relevant to your argument. Summarizing needlessly will result in a large deduction of points from your grade.

6. Write a strong conclusion where your recap and wrap up everything you have previously discussed in your paper. No new information should be used in the conclusion.

7. Spelling, grammar, mechanics, and word choice count, so be diligent.
