There has ample research done for the management of hyperglycemic hospitalized patients. This research includes the correlation between their morbidity and mortality rates. This research has steered towards the increase in formalized conventions in the intensive care unit (ICU) setting with rigorous glucose targets in many institutions. However, the same cannot be said for most non-ICU inpatient admissions (Beata Strack, 2014). It is very difficult to predict if a patient will be readmitted to a hospital after being discharged. This paper will discuss the Weighted K Nearest Neighbor Algorithm to predict the re-admittance of hyperglycemic patients back into the hospital. This will be predicted using a computer software program developed using the programming language Java.
