Background Information

The New Harbor Community Center offers a variety of services. Services include a food bank, a family recreation center replete with a basketball court, an arts and crafts room, an early learning day care service, a senior club and counseling center. Funding for these services are provided by government grants, non-profit charities like the United Way and private donations.

This is the scenario, Current Situation

Robert Johnson is a trained human and social services professional and a volunteer basketball coach at the community center. He was born and raised in New Harbor and knows many of the residents. He actually attended high school with many of the parents of the teens he coaches. Robert Johnson “I’ve begun to notice that many of the teens are using the Center’s services, but do not seem to have a permanent address. This issue seems to be a growing trend, so I think I’m going to begin visiting team members where they say they live to speak with their parents. I want to determine if there is instability in the home and how the Community Center may step in to assist the teens that need additional assistance or if I find out they are homeless. I feel that my personal relationship with most of the parents along with my professional training will facilitate an honest response from the parents about their situation.”

2 Pages: Post an explanation of the most important ethical considerations that Robert must be aware of and what he can do to ensure that he does not cross any boundaries. Provide references to the NOHS standards and the literature to support your response.
