1.Pretend you are a defense attorney and are defending a client on a murder charge. The victim was found in
a dark alley. A witness had a glimpse of a figure standing over the body. The police thoroughly interrogated
the witness and arrested a man. There is no other evidence against him, except that of the eye witness
testimony. The witness is positive in his identification.
As the defense attorney and with your knowledge of the problems with eyewitness testimony and memory, tell
the jury why they should be doubtful of the witness. Use your text and all memory-related research provided
as the basis for your defense. (this is a little CSI, but eyewitness testimonies are used in court cases and
your text and videos demonstrate why they are so problematic).
2.A student studied several hours for an exam, unfortunately, the student drew a blank when taking the exam.
What several explanations could you have for this student’s exam problem? What changes can the student make
in the future when studying for the next exam?
