Paper details

Task:
Your assignment is to write an analytical essay of at least 5 double-spaced, 12 pt. font pages. The final product should be a multi paragraph essay describing how the treatment of women at the time was portrayed in Chopin’s œStory of an Hour, Updike’s œA & P, and Auburn’s œProof using reliable research. If your essay does not meet the 5 page minimum, you may use the œoptional readings recommended in the syllabus.

Your cover page should include the title of your essay, your name, my name, the date, and the class. Your essay should start at the top of the next page. Your cover page DOES NOT COUNT in your page count. You are required to write at least 5 pages, NOT COUNTING YOUR COVER PAGE OR BIBLIOGRAPHY.
Your first paragraph should be an Introduction. You can start with an interesting fact, a quote, a statistic, a personal experience, an œimagine situation, a question, etc. This paragraph should end with a thesis statement about how the treatment of women has changed over time and is reflected in literature.
Your second, third, and fourth paragraphs should be body paragraphs, each with a topic sentence about the way women were treated at the time of the piece. Each paragraph should contain at least one quote from your research on women’s history and one quote from the short story or play you are connecting it to. You may find that each body paragraph surpasses a page in length; that is perfectly acceptable as long as you are still on topic.
Your last paragraph should be a conclusion paragraph. This should not just be a summary of what you’ve written. You should think of an interesting way to make me remember your paper over all of the others I’m going to read. You can think of ending with any of the techniques mentioned in creating your first paragraph.
PLEASE FOLLOW THE ABOVE GUIDELINES CLOSELY. Your work should be an example of college-level writing.
