The Mayor warned that it would be âeconomic follyâ to prevent major
foreign investors pouring money into housing, transport and utilities and
that he had âno qualmsâ about them doing so.
The Chancellor said Chinese investment in âcriticalâ infrastructure was
ânot a threat but a great opportunityâ and that the Government would
âpositively welcomeâ it.
In their only joint appearance while on separate trade missions to China,
the two men addressed head on fears that Britain could be putting itself
at risk by relying so much on foreign money.
