Paper instructions:
The structure of the paper should be as follows (it is also attached as a word document, so please

consult):
1.    Introduction (up to 1 page)

2.    Literature review (see clarification below) (up to 3 pages)

3.    Methodology (2 pages): Introducing the qualitative method and the rationale behind using it in

your work- Why use the qualitative method? It’s importance. See articles called Qualitative interview,

Qualitative interview_part2, Semi structural interviewing and qualitative analyysis.

Presenting the interviewee (general socio-demographic data); the research tool

“ the interview guide and the issues which the interviewees were asked about.

4.    Results ( 5 pages): Analysis of the interview: Describe at least 3 themes that emerge from the

data; describe the relationship between each theme and provide excerpts from the transcript. Quotes

from the transcript should be written in single spaced line format and centered. The themes to be

discussed are “ Survival, Identity, Family, and Resilience

5.    Discussion (5 pages): Discuss the possible connections between the different themes you

explored (the way/s they relate to one another). Connect these themes (or some of them) to the

literature.

Clarifications:

    Literature review -The following articles “ Doing Narrative Research, Forming a story-

Segal1999, narrative enquiry, and sandleowski_telling stories.
Literature review should provide the theoretical basis upon which you conduct the interview and

your research. Therefore, it may contain, for example, literature about Holocaust survivors;

interviewing Holocaust survivors; narratives and life-stories; narrative & trauma.

    Method

Refer to the following points:
Interviewee “ a short description of your interviewee “ age, family status, the way he/she was

selected for the interview.
Research tools “ this should be your description of an in-depth semi-structured interview. Provide a

description of your interview guide (themes). Observations, if these were made.
Details relevant to the setting of the interview “ participant signed a letter of consent after receiving

a brief explanation of the study (topic of research and the method that is going to be used) and

assurance of confidentiality. Where did the interview take place? How long did it last? And what was

the general response of the interviewee.

    Results

Present the themes that were revealed out of the interviewee’s story, first, in general and then in

detail. Attach quotes from the transcription to exemplify each theme.

    Discussion
This section is aimed at gaining insights and reflections regarding your findings. Integration with the

literature (the same references you used in the literature review section and/or different ones). Don’t

use any  quotations or refer to what the interviewee originally said. This section deals only with your

interpretations (based on experience and literature) to the findings.
