Tamara

Tamara

Introduction

In this case review I will discuss the events pre and post operation which resulted to a medical emergency team(MET) call   for a forty five year old woman. In this case I was employed 0.5 FTE in operating theatre and 0.5 FTE in surgical ward. This meant I worked one week in one unit and the next in the other. This privileged me to care for Tamara (Pseudonym) in both units. I first met Tamara at the holding bay, where her care was handed over to me by the ward nurse. The second time was when I was admitting her back in the surgical ward after a week in intensive care unit (ICU)

Leadership

Leadership

When reading most managerial books, one notes that leadership is one of the four core management functions that any manager can assume. However, this is not the case. It is essential to comprehend what leadership is before making assumptions. Leadership is a process through which one persuades or induces a group of persons to pursue objectives that are held high by the leader or shared with followers (Wheatley, 2011). When one understands what leadership is, then leadership styles imply to the process through which leadership is carried out. Leadership styles encompass how leaders relate to others within and without the organization. In addition, it implies to how leaders view their positions and themselves. This to a large extent defines whether or not they are successful leaders (Bass, 2011).
