Paper details

I’m currently pursuing an MBA, and during my time, I discovered that the universe of possibilities where I could potentially work and make a significant impact increase exponentially. At the same time, through my electives, my interactions with professors, other students, I also realized that my interests might have broadened concerning the types of positions and projects.
Over the last 12 years, I have worked my way up in different large companies in tech (telecom and software) to the position of senior product manager. I take a great deal of pride in the development and execution of products in the software entertainment (music, and video) industry.
I’m interested in working in a small and mid-size company where I can have a significant impact. I still want to work in in the technology and software industry (I want to be a successful leader in technology and engineering) as director or VP in product development.
I understood that to be entirely successful in those roles; it requires to build knowledge around system design management and system thinking and to have a strong understanding of building and operating large and complex software systems.
I have the ambition to manage larger teams, more complex projects, and products and to be involved in the entire process of the product lifecycle (design & architecture planning, launch, and operation) of complex systems.
I want to develop decision skills and framework that will help me to define when and how to improve and bring innovation in technology and products.

In my last experience at Juniper, I recall that I face challenges when it comes to aligning technical development/innovation process and product development process.
Joining the program, I can benefit from working with a professor with M. Pitt, an expert in product design and development that will help me to develop skills and tools to take better decisions relative to improving and innovating in complex systems.

Also, I’m interested in more technical roles such as Technical product manager (and the program have been successful in securing those positions for a student).

In the field of Fintech, Data sciences or even consumer software in companies such as Master Card, Tableau or Spotify successful product changes occurs with a deep understanding of systems. To be successful, I must be in those roles combine business acumen, project management, and system thinking skills.

Also, in the long run, I still have the ambition to launch my companies and an additional 12 to 16 month on the campus will allow me to benefit more from the entrepreneurship resources offered by the school.

I realize that while my MBA is powerful regarding developing leadership skills. There are areas some area relative to the management in a highly complex technological environment that is not covered in the MBA program and that I will need to develop, strengthen or acquire to be successful. That can significantly benefit from another 12 to 16 months of pursuing a master in system design and management.

Also, I started during the MBA to develop knowledge in the area of data science and pursuing the business analytics certificate, but I want to continue to deepen this knowledge by taking classes in Applied machine learning and applied AI in the school of engineering and the analytics lab in the management school. I am also excited to continue to expand my management skills around negotiation and managing in adversity.

I am attracted by the diversity of the program with more than 50% of the cohort being international. This important for me as I always worked in a global environment and I understand the benefit the diversity.

I am attracted by the community and impressed about fellows such as Mark Larson and Mary Pearson ’12 who were successful in creating during their class project during their time in the program the product OneBin that offers travelers an easier way to get their personal items through airline security while also clarifying TSA safety requirements.
Also, the successful background of Sandeep Chema, Director of user experience design at C3 resonate with my background. I will benefit from learning and developing relationships with those individuals, who come from a wide variety of professional and personal backgrounds.
